Michael started mowing lawns when he was about 8 years old, dragging his parents reel mower over the bumpy red flagstone sidewalks of Denver to mow lawns for some elderly ladies in the neighborhood. Michael didn’t mind, because in his hand he had an extra large Slurpy in a superhero collectors cup paid for with mowing money. Before long, he was hauling rock and digging bed lines for the neighbors and his friends’ parents. At Colorado State University Michael studied art, with a concentration in painting, and during summer breaks, installed sprinkler systems in Denver. After graduation, while working in a foundry that cast bronze sculptures for some of the nation’s most successful sculptors, he had an epiphany: a foundry was perhaps the worst possible place in the world to work. Michael soon reentered the landscape industry and has been there since. That was 18 years ago and took him from Ft. Collins Colorado, to Atlanta Georgia, and finally to Omaha, Nebraska. Michael is a certified irrigation contractor in Nebraska and Iowa and an EPA certified pesticide applicator. In addition, Michael has earned the designation of CLP (Certified Landscape Professional). CLP is the certification mark awarded by the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) and represents evidence of the industry's highest standards of landscape professionalism. Less than 1% of all landscape contractors have achieved this type of certification. |
